Chris SmythGroup CEO, Perennial Freight

Chris Smyth has worked in transport and logistics in Ireland for over 30 years.

He is the Group CEO of Perennial Freight for the past three years after he successfully lead an MBO of the company.

Prior to this Chris was the Commercial Director of Perennial Freight from 2001 to 2022 a period of significant growth for the group as it forged new joint venture partnerships with European transport companies.

From 1991 to 2001 Chris worked in a number of roles in Pandoro which was then part of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, also known as P&O. When P&O decided to split the transport and ferry operations into two separate divisions on the Irish Sea Chris then moved into a sales role becoming a Sale Manager in Ireland.

In 1998 Chris became General Manager of P&O Ferrymaster’s with responsibility for all sales functions and European transport in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Chris is currently the Vice President of the France Ireland Chamber of Commerce and will take over as president from Aine Murray on the 13th of December.
